Resource mobilization concerns the process of gathering both financial and non-financial resources required to achieve organizational goals and objectives. Financial resources include money while non-financial resources include physical materials, human resources including their experience and time they provide. The following constitute the key points contained in KENPRO’s financial resource mobilization memorandum of understanding with other organizations.
An Overview of Resource Mobilization MOU
This Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) is entered into by — hereinafter referred to as CLIENT- and the Kenya Projects Organization, hereinafter referred to as CONSULTANT, St. Marks Academy Admin Block, Off Magadi Road, P.O. Box 15509-00503, Mbagathi, Nairobi-Kenya, are hereinafter jointly referred to as the “Parties” and each separately as a “Party”.
WHEREAS, all the rights and obligations detailed in this MOU shall be governed by laws of respective jurisdictions.
WHEREAS, the parties are required to maintain professional standards and practices of administration, accounting and auditing with regard to the responsibilities and duties detailed in this agreement.
WHEREAS, all parties to this agreement hereby commit themselves to honour and fulfil their parts of the agreement in full.
WHEREAS, the parties share similar missions and wish to cooperate in areas of mutual concern to enhance the effectiveness of their development efforts;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Parties agree to cooperate as follows:
Article 1: Purpose
The purpose of this MOU is to provide a framework of cooperation and facilitate collaboration between the Parties in areas of common interest.
The specific objectives of this MOU include the following:
- The Consultant to facilitate all tasks related to resource mobilization, project implementation and project evaluation;
- The Client to carry out the administration function and provide key documents that may be required,
Article 2: Areas of Cooperation
The Consultant shall play the following role:
Offer support in resource mobilization including but may not be limited to the following:
- Donor mapping to identify possible donors;
- Carrying out proposal application processes including going through application guidelines,
- Getting involved in technical Proposal writing,
- Preparing project financial proposal (project budgeting),
- Briefing the client on application progress and sharing any information as may be required and
- Providing any other project support services that may be required during project planning, implementation and evaluation phases.
The Client shall:
Provide all the support required in resource mobilization process including but not limited to:
- Offering financial support to the consultant to meet the cost of resource mobilization effort and any other project support service that may be rendered based on client’s needs,
- Providing key project idea and existing possible donors if any,
- Actively participating in the application process including review of the draft proposal,
- Sharing all documents that may be required during the process of resource mobilization such as certificate of registration, organization profile, profiles/CVs of key project personnel, financial statements, evidence of prior funding and
- Sharing any information that may be crucial in the application process and project runnining cycle.
Article 3: Consultation and exchange of information
- The Parties will, on a regular basis, keep each other informed of and consult on matters of common interest, which in their opinion are likely to lead to mutual collaboration.
- Consultation and exchange of information and documents under this Article shall be without prejudice to arrangements, which may be required to safeguard the confidential and restricted character of certain information and documents. Such arrangements will survive the termination of this MOU and of any agreements signed by the parties within the scope of this collaboration.
- The Parties shall, at such intervals as deemed appropriate, convene meetings to review the progress of activities being carried out under the present MOU and to plan future activities.
- The Consultant may from time to time be involved in consultations related to project implementation and evaluation for mutual benefit.
- Both parties shall remain committed to their obligations in the spirit of transparency and accountability.
Article 4: Term, Termination, Amendment, Renewal
- This MOU shall remain in force unless terminated by either Party. Either Party may terminate this MOU by giving three (3) months’ written notice to the other Party.
- In the event of termination of this MOU, any supplementary agreements may also be terminated in accordance with the termination provisions contained in such agreements.
- This MOU may be amended only by mutual written agreement of the Parties.
- This MOU may be renewed by mutual written agreement of the Parties.
Article 5: Notices
Any notice or request required or permitted to be given or made under this MOU shall be in writing. Such notice or request shall be deemed to have been duly given or made when it shall have been delivered by hand, certified mail, courier, or cable to the Party to which it is required to be given or made.
Article 6: Entry into Force
This MOU shall enter into force on the date it is signed by both Parties.
Article 7: Final Provisions
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the duly authorized representatives of the Parties affix their signatures.
